The Associated Press reports that after years of fighting breast cancer, she died Saturday (July 13).

Shannen Doherty Dies Of Cancer At The Age of 53
Shannen’s publicist, Leslie Sloane, released a statement on Sunday, July 14, that read, “The devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”
The public discovered she was ill after she filed a lawsuit in 2015 against her former business managers. She alleged they mismanaged her money and allowed her health insurance to lapse. The Memphis native later shared intimate details of her treatment following a single mastectomy (removal of the entire breast). She posted a photo of her first day of radiation treatment in December 2016. She referred to the process as “frightening.” The actress revealed that the cancer reached stage four in 2020.
