NEC, Kitara seek quick reaction in Lugogo clash

Thursday April 4, 2024

  • NEC vs Kitara – MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo 7pm
  • Busoga United vs SC Villa – Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru 4pm

After dropping points in their respective last outing, NEC and Kitara lock horns at Lugogo with either desperate to return to winning ways.

The hosts lost 1-0 to Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu which saw them drop to fifth position on the log with 37, seven adrift of Kitara who also dropped points in a goalless draw with BUL at home.

NEC is aware that defeat will all but end their slim title hopes but victory will see them close the gap between them and the Hoima based side to just four points and literally into the title mix.

Hussein Mbalangu whose side fell to Kitara in the reverse fixture will hope Rashid Okocha, Cromwell Rwothomio and Joseph Dhata among others show up in lethal form.

For Kitara, Jude Ssemugabi, scorer of the winner in the reverse fixture says the players have been prepared well for the task.

“The technical staff has prepared well and we go into the game wanting to win after dropping points in the last game,” he said.

The Royals will hope the gods smile their way again at Lugogo where they beat KCCA on their last visit with Denis Omedi getting the winner.

Hot Stat: Kitara could become the first team to win six away games this season.
