KIU Titans took the lead in the semifinal series Game 3 after a 76-74 victory against Namuwongo Blazers in the National Basketball League on Tuesday at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The Namuwongo Blazers started on the front foot, opening a 10-point (21-11) lead at the end of the opening quarter.
In the second quarter, the Titans fought back to return to the game, and they did a great job of reducing their deficit, thus trailing by two points (36-34) at the end of the period.
Coming from the locker rooms, the Titans were blazing with the long shot, thus opening a seven-point (62-55) at the end of the third quarter.
With 3:32 minutes to play, the game faced a forced stopage after the ampires complained that a certain Namuwongo Blazer had thrown on the court.
After intense discussions, the game restarted, and the Rangers held their breath to secure a two-point victory.
Joel Lokoji (21 points), Kasereka Tembo (15 points), and Edgar Munaba (14 points) led the KIU Titans’ scoring board in double digits.
On the other hand, Jimmy Williams (17 points), Peter Cheng (15 points), and Innocent Ochera (13 points) scored in double digits for the Blazers.
The Titans had a good day in office, converting eight out of 20 attempts beyond the arc, unlike the Blazers who scored 11 of the 40 long shots.
