Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC 2-0 PVP Buyenzi
Agnes Nabukenya was the difference as Kawempe Muslim overcame PVP Buyenzi on Monday in the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
In the game played at Abebe Bekila Stadium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Nabukenya scored a goal in either half to guide Kawempe Muslim to a 2-0 win.
It should be noted that the Valley Warriors are making their debut at this level and this was their first group game.
Despite being just 17 years old, Nabukenya has demonstrated to be carrying an old head on young shoulders, often coming to the rescue of Kawempe.
The forward opened the scores in the 32nd minute before wrapping the victory midway through the second stanza with a well taken free kick.
The victory puts the five time League Champions in a good position to progress beyond the group stage with Simba Queens FC and FAD FC from Tanzania and Djibouti respectively next in waiting.
The Valley Warriors will return to action on Wednesday in a game likely to determine who will top Group B.
