Life After Active Sports: Former Footballers Initiative in collaboration with Icon Hospital Bulenga

Life for many former sports personalities has always come along with its own challenges and provocations.
From reduced (minimal) earnings, many retired sportsmen and women suffer from a number of pitfalls as abject poverty, loneliness, depression, illnesses and others.
Therefore, all deliberate efforts to mitigate such problems are always welcome to create a safe haven of life for the gallant former sports personalities who entertained masses in their hey days.
It is upon this background that the Former Footballers Initiative (FFI) was birthed.
Now under the chairmanship of Isaac Mubarak Ngobya, the group has unified the retired football players with a viable platform to network, smile together, visit each other, offer financial empowerment and best of all, improve the general welfare and health conditions of the respective members.
The latest positive development is a collaboration with the renowned Icon Hospital in Bulenga, a private healthcare facility under Icon Medicare services Limited that offers general and specialized medicine.

FFI members Edward Baguma, Robert Kizito, Jimmy Ssekandi, Vincent Ssemanobe and John Baptist Ntesibe recently visited this facility.
They were warmly welcomed by Dr Marvin Nicolous, the director and Racheal Mugisha (head of finance department at Icon hospital Bulenga).
The FFI members had an opportunity further discussions that will fruit into a formal memorandum of understanding between the two parties.

They were able to also access the first class services as body pressure measurement, heart beat rate and testing of blood.
Later, Dr Marvin and Mugisha visited the ailing Robert Kizito, a former Express and Uganda Cranes defender at his home in Bulenga Nankuwadde where his physical and mental health status will continue to be monitored.
In case such a collaboration between Icon Hospital Bulenga and FFI comes to pass, the former footballers stand to benefit as their respective health status quo will be improved for the better.
