The Uganda Premier League title race took another twist with Kitara returning to the top after a late win over Express while BUL fell to NEC at Lugogo.

First, the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku game saw Kabon Living score a late winner for visiting Kitara to edge Express 2-1.

Denis Omedi gave the visitors a lead in the 11th minute getting at the end of a swift counter with Frank Zaga providing the assist.

Wagoina equalised seven minutes later with a well taken free kick which he won as he went down under a challenge from Maxwell Owachigiu.

The contest then became even with either side missing opportunities to score the second.

The winning goal arrived the 6th of the eight added minutes, Kabon curled a corner into the net to send the away fans into frenzy.

However, there had been protests leading to the corner as Omedi appeared to have fouled an Express FC player before the ball went for corner.

Secondly, they believe the corner was non-existent as the Express defender headed the ball that was already out of play.

But that didn’t matter as Kitara went top with 47 points after 25 games, one more than second placed Vipers and BUL who faltered at NEC.

The Jinja based side conceded in the 57th minute under lights at Lugogo when Tom Ikara howler gifted Tah Barni Kelvin an opportunity to shoot into an empty net.

BUL also had coach Abbey Kikomeko sent off, his second red card of the season.

NEC are now on 43 points, four behind leaders with four games remaining to complete the campaign.

The league continues on Thursday with Villa and KCCA away to Gaddafi and Soltilo Bright Stars respectively.
