Guinness Uganda has officially announced its long-awaited partnership with three rugby clubs in Uganda; KOBs, Rhinos, and Warriors and two rugby facilities; Legends Rugby Grounds and Pitstop Sports Lounge.

The partnership will see Guinness Uganda pump UGX 400 million (four hundred million Uganda Shillings) annually into the rugby clubs and facilities for the next three years. This will make Legends Rugby Grounds in Kampala City – where KOBs, Rhinos, and Warriors play their home games in the local and national competitions – and Pitstop Sports Lounge in Jinja City the Homes of Guinness Rugby in Uganda.

“Guinness is committed to growing rugby in Uganda as seen through our sponsorships and partnerships over the years. We have sponsored several tournaments like the Guinness Sevens, and the Guinness Fun Rugby that we are witnessing and enjoying today and extended support to the national Sevens team, the Rugby Cranes. We are now deepening our support to benefit the actual stakeholders of the game; that is the clubs, the players, and the fans,” said Matilda Babuleka, the Head of Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited.

The announcement was made during the annual Jinja Fun Rugby event at Pitstop Sports Lounge in Jinja City. Guinness Uganda sponsored this year’s edition of the event happening during the Easter weekend.

The three rugby clubs also revealed their special edition jerseys for the Guinness Fun Rugby event in which they are participating alongside other teams in fans’ rugby and women’s rugby.

Guinness is an Irish dry stout manufactured and distributed by Uganda Breweries Limited. It is one of the country’s most popular beer brands.
