Housing Finance Bank MD Mugabi named new UBA Chairman .

Following election at the UBA Annual General Meeting, where a new Executive Committee was sworn in to lead Uganda Bankers Association (UBA), The Housing Finance Bank CEO Michael K. Mugabi was officially elected as Chairman taking over Julius Kakeeto  

 The newly elected 2026–2027 Central Executive Committee includes:

Chairperson: Michael K. Mugabi (CEO, Housing Finance Bank), Vice Chairperson: Grace Muliisa (Managing Director, Ecobank Uganda), Honorary Treasurer: Sanjay Rughani (CEO, Standard Chartered Bank Uganda), and Honorary Auditor: Robin Bairstow (CEO, I&M Bank Uganda)

Under Mugabi’s leadership, the UBA aims to tackle several strategic priorities, including: Enhancing digital innovation and financial inclusion, Scaling up risk management and addressing industry fraud, Fostering environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices across banking operations among others.

Mr Kakeeto said that “I concluded my two-year term as Chairman of the Uganda Bankers Association, and I want to appreciate the Executive Committee, the UBA Secretariat, and fellow CEOs for the steadfast support, professionalism, and shared commitment to advancing our industry”
