Victoria University Kampala held a Public lecture on Monday 17th November 2025 themed: “Patriotism, Responsible Citizenship and Nurturing a Safe and Conscious Generation.” 

During the public lecture, the Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit Col. Edith Nakalena delivered a powerful to the students, public and the university management focusing on instilling national values, strengthening civic responsibility, and challenging young people to play a more active role in shaping Uganda’s future.

The management expressed gratitude to Col,’s message which they say called for real responsibility for national peace and love for our country  

The Vice Chancellor Victoria University Prof. Lawrence Muganga said that they are deeply grateful to Col. Edith to biait the university.

He said that “Col. Nakalema reminded us that patriotism goes beyond a mere feeling and calls for real responsibility. It involves the discipline to act ethically, the courage to make sacrifices, and the commitment to contribute to a stable and prosperous Uganda”

He said that her insights challenged and inspired us to reflect on our roles as citizens in building a better future.

The public lecture was coordinated by the Cooperative Education Office Shamim Matovu, who he said ensured that experiential learning remains a central part of our university experience.

“Your dedication makes opportunities like this possible, and I am very much looking forward to the next one” he thanked the coordinator.

Col. Nakalena in her remarks said that “The openness, curiosity, and highly interactive dialogue reflected a community ready to think critically about nationhood, values, and personal contribution”

She reminds the participants that

“Patriotism is not an emotion; it is responsibility. It is the discipline to act ethically, the courage to sacrifice, and the determination to contribute to a stable and prosperous Uganda”

She added that the the power of a peace-conscious generation is grounded in values, excellence, and service.

“Every assignment completed with diligence, every innovation pursued with purpose and every act of accountability strengthens our national fabric” she said

The lecture tiikplace place at the Victoria University Auditorium from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
