Express come temporarily out of industrial action, suffer late defeat to Maroons

Express FC finally managed to honor their game against Maroons FC on Saturday in Luzira. Before the game, the Red Eagles were in the news for failure to train this week.

Reports filtered through early this week, indicating the Express FC players had put their tools down and not turned up for training due to failure by the club to pay their salaries in the region of 4-6 months.

Before the game, there were fears the team would not turned up but they team eventually did although arriving late.

Despite the challenges, the team managed to put up a spirited display, marching the Prison Warders until the very tail-end of the game.

The resilience was broken deep in stoppage time with Boris Onegi finding the winner for Maroons in the fifth minute of added time.

The result takes Maroons FC to seventh place on 33 points, two places and five points ahead of Express FC.
