Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Put has on Thursday named the squad that will face Botswana and Algeria in the up coming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The Cranes will return to action next month with two home games.

The aforementioned games mark a return of the national teams to Mandela National Stadium (Namboole) for the first time since 2019.

The squad named has four goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders and nine forwards.

The new face on the team is defender Elio Capradossi who plies his trade at Serie B side Calcio Lecco FC in Italy.

The 28-year old has roots and is a product of Roma youth academy. He won the 2015–2016 Italian U19 Championship with Roma’s U19 team as the squad captain.

He has also featured for Italy at different youth age groups.

Uchechukwu Mubiru Ikpeazu is also summoned again. The gangly forward has on numerous occasions called but failed to turn up.

It is not known whether this time round, Mubiru will come and feature for Uganda Cranes.

Uganda pitted in Group G will take on Botswana on 7th June and Algeria on 10th June 2024.
