Christ the King Church Choir unveils activities to mark 90 years set for December 2026.

Christ the King Church Choir that belongs to the oldest parish in central Kampala has launched various activities to mark 90 years of singing and transforming the heart of the community and church members taking over from the initial founders known as the Goan Community Fathers.  

Themed: “In harmony with Community for the greater glory of God” the Choir has lined up a series of activities leading to the main celebration set for 13th December 2026 at Sheraton Hotel and 20th December 2026 at Christ the King Church during Christmas Carols season.

During the launch of the activities and the symbolic vision identification logo, The Parish Priest, Monsignor Gerald Kalumba while narrating the history of the Church hailed the Choir for moving forward the legacy of the original Choir of the Goan Community, which he said has contributed to the spiritual growth of church members and the community.

“You are assisting us to pray twice. The choir voices as they sing contribute to the Spirit lives of the church members and talent sharing in liturgy prayers” he said

Monsignor said that as the choir celebrates, there is a need to continue with the love of one another, responsibility, support to mass praise and worship.

“The Catholic Church is open to everyone to enable everybody get saved, we have got the confession session for people to repent and change. If anybody goes wrong reconcile to represent the faith” he said.

The Chairman Christ the King Choir, Mr. Felix Nsimoomwe while giving thanks to God for the grace that has enabled the choir to remain a heartbeat of the parish, mentioned activities set to mark the celebration including; engaging with agencies, Street activations, identified community for collective singing, community services, The retreat, gift giving, children choir launch, recruitment of new members, among others.

He added that all the activities will climax with the main events on 13th December 2026 at Sheraton followed by 20th December 2026 at the church with selected hymn songs from over a 90 year time span with a special anthem and display of branded items for sale to the celebrants and the community.

“I commend the Parish Priest for supporting a providing an enabling environment for the choir to serve. As members we pledge to continue working together. As we launch activities we commit to renew harmony and unity and care for the community” he said

Savior Martins pictures above, a representative of the Goan Community expressed gratitude to the chior for the integration of all different people from the community as a body of Christ.

He said when he came to Uganda he was following his path as guided by his father back home.
