Major shake-up could in 'European Premier League'
Manchester United and Liverpool are said to be in “bombshell” talks about joining a new European Premier League.
Sky News reported that the tournament would be backed by FIFA and include Europe’s elite football clubs in an attempt to "reshape the sport's global landscape".
So far the proposal has had buy-in from clubs in Germany, France, Italy, England and Spain and there is talk of the tournament kicking off in 2022.
Up to five English clubs could take part, with Arsenal , Chelsea , Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur considered as part of the plans.
What Lampard said
The Blues head coach faced the media following the Sevilla game and the main talking point from his press conference was about his side keeping a clean sheet.
"Yes, I think it is a positive result, we felt what it was like last season when we lost the first game and the pressure to get out of the group which we did.
"So I understand the importance of the first game against quality opposition. The clean sheet was a big deal for us today because they can give you a lot of problems.
"They play a physical way, a distinct style which made them hard to press and we matched them. I feel the two teams slightly worked each other out. It was an interesting game, a good game to manage and I am happy with the 0-0.
"I am pleased with the side for getting a clean sheet which was a big deal for us tonight."

Roman Abramovich is interested in hiring Max Allegri if he decided to dispense with Frank Lampard.
The former Juventus boss is a free agent after leaving the Old Lady and now Quotidano Sportivo , are reporting that the Italian is being lined up as a potential replacement for Frank Lampard.
The Blues spent big during the summer transfer window, but only have two Premier League wins to show for their investment.
That has seen criticism for Lampard, and the report states Abramovich ‘wants to win’ and won’t let sentiment stop him dispensing with Lampard if results don’t improve.
Allegri left Juventus in June 2019 and boasts an impressive list of achievements including six league titles.
