Bright Stars stun Police in Kavumba Derby to resuscitate survival hopes

Soltilo Bright Stars FC gave themselves a chance of surviving relegation by overcoming Police FC in the Kavumba Derby played on Thursday at Kavumba Recreation Ground.
The Stars have found life difficult this season , languishing in the drop zone and failing to collect positive results.
However, today, the team under the stewardship of interim manager Ian Mutenda put up a remarkable display to secure a 3-1 win.
In a blistering start, Noordin Bunjo and Nelson Ssenkatuka (brace) scored inside the opening half to hand their team a 3-0 lead at the break.
Bunjo broke the deadlock as early as the 8th minute before Ssenkatuka headed home Innocent Kitimbo’s cross two minutes later.
The striker got his second goal of the day in the 32nd minute, scoring direct from a free kick.
In the second stanza, The Cops pulled one back through Daniel Jakony but the damage had already been made.
The result means Soltilo Brights Stars remain in the drop zone in 14th place on 15 points, eight behind Police who are just a position above them.
