Arsenal's stance over Joaquin Correa transfer revealed amid Lucas Torreira swap rumours
Lucas Torreira could be set to depart the Emirates with a move to Lazio in the offing
Arsenal's Lucas Torreira has been heavily linked with a return to Italy this summer with new Lazio boss Mauricio Sarri reportedly keen on the Uruguayan.
According to Sky Italy, the Gunners are considering a deal that would see Torrieira head to the Stadio Olimpico in return for Lazio's Joaquin Correa.
The 26-year-old signed for Lazio from Seville in 2018 and has gone onto establish himself as a regular Argentine international.
Correa is currently on international duty with his country at the Copa America playing a part in both of Argentina's opening group games.
The attacking midfielder is seen by the Gunners hierarchy as a potential replacement for Martin Odegaard whose loan spell came to an end following the completion of the Premier League campaign and has since returned to Real Madrid.
However, according to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano the Gunners are not currently in talks for the Lazio star and have no plans to open negotiations for a transfer.
Romano also provided an update on Torreira's situation saying that Lazio are keen on a move for the Uruguayan but the current asking price of £17 million is too steep for the Italians.
Unless the Gunners lower their valuation of Torreira Lazio will move on and switch their concentration to other transfer targets.
Torreira signed for the Gunners in 2018 from Sampdoria but was been unable to persuade Gunners boss Mikel Arteta of his worth since the manager took over from Unai Emery in 2019.
The Uruguayan international was loaned out to Atletico Madrid for the 2020/21 season where he became a La Liga champions under Diego Simeone.
