Arsenal may have a secret weapon in their reported bid to land Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard.

Odegaard is expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu on loan this month in a bid to get more regular first-team football having only made three league starts so far this season.

According to various reports, Arsenal have already made an approach for the Norwegian star as they continue to search for a creative midfielder this month.

But competition is rife, and the Gunners are already said to have had one approach turned down with another Premier League club and Real Sociedad understood to be interested.

Odegaard enjoyed an impressive spell with Real Sociedad last season, making 31 league appearances, scoring four times and assisting six before returning to the Spanish capital.

After his performances last season, the 22-year-old was expected to challenge for a spot back at Real Madrid, where he has been since 2015 when he joined as a youngster, but he now finds himself searching for another loan club.

Arsenal are hoping to be that club and they could have a secret weapon as they look to defeat their transfer rivals to get the deal over the line.

It seems the Gunners have experience dealing with Odegaard's agency. In October, the Gunners landed Swedish youngster Nikolaj Moller from Malmo.

And Moller has the same agency as Odegaard in NSKY, according to Transfermarkt, meaning the Gunners already have a relationship with the Real Madrid starlet's representatives.

Arsenal will be hoping that gives them an edge as they go up against that other Premier League club and Real Sociedad in the race to sign Odegaard this month, and let's not forget, the Gunners have also proved themselves a useful loan club for another Real Madrid player in Dani Ceballos, who returned for his second year on loan at the Emirates Stadium this season.
