SC Villa will go into the final day of the 2023/24 Uganda Premier League season with advantage and chance to win their first title in 20 years.

The Jogoos snatched a comeback victory over URA FC on Tuesday at Wankulukuku to move top of the pile.

In a closely contested game, Villa had to fight from a goal down to win 2-1 including getting the winner in the 88th minute.

Just like it was the case last season, URA FC were determined to deny the Jogoos a chance of clinching the League title.

It should be noted that Villa lost 1-0 to URA on the final day of last season thus letting Vipers SC to win the League crown.

Today felt like a Dejavu as URA FC once again looked like they were going to deny Villa yet again.

The Tax Collectors took the lead in the 80th minute through Bruno Bunyaga.

Unlike last season, Villa never frowned and kept surging forward. Villa eventually found the equalizer three minutes later through Umar Lutalo.

With two minutes left on the clock, Villa captain Kenneth Ssemakula took matters into his own hands, sending a ferocious strike from distance that beat goalkeeper Denis Otim.

The goal sent Villa fans into a frenzy with results from elsewhere playing in their favour. Kitara FC lost 1-0 to Soltilo Brights FC while BUL FC played a goalless draw at Mbarara City FC.

Villa go into the final game of the season against NEC FC top of the table on 54 points, one ahead of BUL FC and Vipers SC while Kitara FC are fourth on 51 points.
