The donated equipment was composed of 20 shirts, 20 shorts, 20 sockings, 20 pairs of playing boots and 20 standard balls.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the students, the head teacher of St Henry’s College Kitovu Brother Martin Wanambwa expressed gratitude upon the offer, tagging it as a timely boost.
“I thank our old students who have given us a consignment of sports equipment. The offer is timely coming at a time when we shall be having the national competitions here in Masaka. SHACK is prepared to have compete at the USSSA Nationals” Bro Wanambwa stated.
UNASEO’s delegation to the school was led by the first vice president Dr. Paul Bizibu Lukiza, Timothy Katende, Charles Mwesigye, Godfrey Mugisha, Dominic “Domazo” Kabuye and others.
“It is always refreshing to return to Kitovu. This is our second home” Dr. Lukiza who studied at SHACK between 1984 and 1990 stated.
“As UNASEO, we take pride in supporting sports development at St Henry’s College Kitovu. From last year, we paid for every goal scored at the Nationals (in Fort Portal). We are now back to support with sports equipment that we think will help motivate the team” Dr. Lukiza added.
Some of the UNASEO members as Mugisha, Kabuye and Katende were engaged in a special training session with the current school football team as they passed on special skills as positioning, shooting, ball protection, control and passing, alongside other technical aspects of the beautiful game.
“St Henry’s College Kitovu made me who I am today. I can not forget my roots. I am happy to return home and contribute to the current team” Mugisha, a former Uganda Cranes international remarked.
