Uganda North America Sports and Educational Organization (UNASEO) has donated an assortment of sports equipment to St Henry’s College Kitovu in Nyendo, Masaka city.

The group has old students of this famous school who recollected their roots and generously gave back to the institution.

The donated equipment was composed of 20 shirts, 20 shorts, 20 sockings, 20 pairs of playing boots and 20 standard balls.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the students, the head teacher of St Henry’s College Kitovu Brother Martin Wanambwa expressed gratitude upon the offer, tagging it as a timely boost.

“I thank our old students who have given us a consignment of sports equipment. The offer is timely coming at a time when we shall be having the national competitions here in Masaka. SHACK is prepared to have compete at the USSSA Nationals” Bro Wanambwa stated.

UNASEO’s delegation to the school was led by the first vice president Dr. Paul Bizibu Lukiza, Timothy Katende, Charles Mwesigye, Godfrey Mugisha, Dominic “Domazo” Kabuye and others.

“It is always refreshing to return to Kitovu. This is our second home” Dr. Lukiza who studied at SHACK between 1984 and 1990 stated.

“As UNASEO, we take pride in supporting sports development at St Henry’s College Kitovu. From last year, we paid for every goal scored at the Nationals (in Fort Portal). We are now back to support with sports equipment that we think will help motivate the team” Dr. Lukiza added.

Some of the UNASEO members as Mugisha, Kabuye and Katende were engaged in a special training session with the current school football team as they passed on special skills as positioning, shooting, ball protection, control and passing, alongside other technical aspects of the beautiful game.

“St Henry’s College Kitovu made me who I am today. I can not forget my roots. I am happy to return home and contribute to the current team” Mugisha, a former Uganda Cranes international remarked.

UNASEO’s other members currently based in the United States as Henry Mpagi kept their ears to the ground as they keenly followed the proceedings.

This year (2024) thus far, SHACK under the head coach Fred Kasekende won the Nyendo Mukungwe zone trophy, were runners up in Masaka City championships (behind champions Blessed Sacrament Kimanya) and won the Greater Masaka region trophy after a successful championship played in Ssese Islands, Kalangala.

Collins Ocatre, the current SHACK football team captain was overwhelmed by the offer of sports gear and committed to remained focused ahead of the upcoming USSSA national football championships.

“I am humbled for the support of sports equipment from our Old Boys under the UNASEO group. This is motivating and as a team, we are ready to play our hearts out” Ocatre, a right back said.

SHACK will co-host the 2024 USSSA football championships alongside Masaka Secondary School.
