"The Day Museveni Passes Away, Muhoozi Will Know First & Immediately Take Over Power," Declares Ssemujju Nganda

Kira Municipality Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, has warned that President Museveni is slowly passing state power to his son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. According to Ssemujju, Muhoozi is now being groomed daily and could be the first person to seize control of Uganda the day Museveni dies. “Yes, it is true, we are still far away from state power,” Ssemujju said. “Every day before Museveni wakes up, Muhoozi is briefed and he understands that the man is weakening. So even if he dies today, Muhoozi will be the first person to know and take over the country’s power.”

Ssemujju added that because Muhoozi is still learning leadership, he often uses harsh and ruthless methods against opposition leaders and their supporters just to prove that he is in charge. He warned that Uganda’s opposition has only one real chance — the upcoming elections — to capture state power before Muhoozi completely cements himself as Museveni’s successor.

Veteran political journalist turned lobbyist Richard Baguma echoed similar warnings to the opposition, especially National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine. Baguma said Bobi Wine must accept that he is an underdog in the succession battle and has a lot of work to do if he hopes to compete with entrenched figures like Muhoozi and Odrek Rwabwogo, Museveni’s son-in-law and chairperson of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development.

“I speak this in good faith,” Baguma explained. “Museveni cannot be overthrown through these elections. Even if he loses power like Omar al-Bashir in Sudan or Muammar Gaddafi in Libya, it will be taken by those close to him, not outsiders like Bobi Wine. He is not yet fully prepared for state power.”

Baguma also warned that Bobi Wine’s youthful base cannot deliver him state power. He said Museveni will continue to exploit their lack of experience by arresting, intimidating, and jailing them to weaken Bobi Wine’s movement while demonstrating his own control.

The veteran analyst advised Bobi Wine to embrace the wisdom of experienced opposition leaders such as Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu and Dr. Kizza Besigye. He noted that both men have deep networks inside state institutions and know what it takes to attempt a transfer of power. He also revealed that Museveni still fears Besigye more than Bobi Wine because of Besigye’s background and proven political capacity.

“Yes, I admit Bobi Wine has huge youth support, especially in ghettos,” Baguma said. “But Museveni will always use that against him. He knows these youths cannot run a country, and their principal lacks the experience to overthrow government.”

This website also established that in 2020, Museveni panicked when intelligence briefed him that former spy chief Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde had infiltrated Bobi Wine’s ghetto groups and was financing them to fuel protests. Museveni responded by ordering Tumukunde’s arrest alongside several youths, many of whom remain imprisoned.

Ssemujju revealed that when he recently met Dr. Besigye, the opposition veteran stressed that elections are the only opportunity left to take power. He warned that if they fail, Muhoozi will rule Uganda from 2031 and will not be as tolerant as Museveni. Ssemujju further cautioned Bobi Wine’s foot soldiers that even if he became president, they would not automatically occupy government offices. Bobi Wine would need experienced people to run the state.

Meanwhile, political debates continue over Museveni’s eventual exit. Justice Minister Norbert Mao claims that silent talks are ongoing between Museveni’s government and some opposition parties about a peaceful transition. However, celebrated journalist Andrew Mwenda dismissed such claims, insisting Museveni has no plan of stepping down and is ready to jail anyone, even family members, who threatens his hold on power.
