Newly Elected Leadership of National Youth Council of Uganda Sworn.
On 19th May 2026, The newly elected Executives of Uganda's National Youth Council, were sworn in to take on new leadership in office marking the transition from the outgoing executives led by Chairperson Jacob Eyeru to a new one Chaired by Daniel Ongom.
The ceremony that was held at Hotel Africana in Kampala was officiated by Hon. Justine Lumumba, Minister, Office of the Prime Minister (General Duties) as Chief Guest.
She said that “Iam honored to attend as Guest of Honor the Swearing-In of the National Youth Council of Uganda. With over 75% of Uganda under 35, the future is young.”

She called upon the new leadership to focus on driving social economic transformation while maintaining their integrity.
“I urge the new leaders to lead with integrity, stay accountable to the young people and focus on driving social-economic transformation” she said
Daniel Ongom Azik the new National Youth council Chairman, in his inaugural speech congratulated the council for the new leadership to serve the people of Uganda. He also thanked the outgoing executive the work well done.
“I congratulate the National Youth council Executive in leadership upon officially taking oath, to serve the young people of Uganda. In a similar spirit, I thank the outgoing Executive under the leadership of Chairperson Jacob Eyeru for the progress of the Council so far, Weldone” he said
Hon. Fiona Nakku
Hon. Fiona Nakku Female Workers Representative in Parliamnet said that youth being the biggest percentage of Uganda's workforce, needs to be supported with a platform that will enable them the work towards moving the country forward.
"For the young leaders to deliver, there need for a favourable platform for them to move the country forward" she said during an interview.
Hon. Fiona Nakku is an elected Female Workers Representative Member of Parliament for the 12th parliament of Uganda. She will be serving in the August house from May 2026 to 2031.
Others sworn in includes, Secretary for Students Affairs Senior Abaho, Secretary for Labour Affairs, and Secretary for External Relations Denise Ayebare, Ademum Sharon Leah among others.
In the company of her brother Senior Abaho after taking Oath as the Secretary for Students Affairs of the National Youth Council, said that “This responsibility is a call to serve, represent, and advocate for the aspirations of young people.”
Ademum Sharon who was successfully sworn in newly elected Vice Chairperson of the National Youth Council on her side said that “This election is testament to the trust and confidence the youth of this nation have in our leadership, vision, and commitment”
She added that “I am confident that our tenure will bring renewed energy, inclusivity, and impact to youth development across the country. i pray that God Almighty will guide us with wisdom, integrity, and courage. The task ahead is great, but so is the potential of our young people under our stewardship”
Elma Kapel Challa, Youth Northern representative congratulated all Executives who swore in pledging to work the news leaders while commending and thank you to the outgoing Executives led by Jacob for the tremendous work done.
