Mutebi, Kamulindwa share joint lead in Entebbe on opening round | Pearl of Africa Golf Series 2025

The second leg of the 2025 Pearl of Africa Golf Series teed off at the par-71 lake side Entebbe club on Wednesday, 2^nd April.

Two Entebbe based professionals Herman Deco Mutebi and David “Amooti” Kamulindwa scored 3-under-68 to take the joint lead.

The duo is just a shot better than Tadeo Gaita Rodell (69) who is in third place.

It is a perfect start and I hope to maintain the performance for the rest of the rounds. The weather was just perfect and I enjoyed my round.

Mutebi recorded 5 birdies on the par-5 hole 1, par 4 hole 3, par 5 hole 7, par 5 hole 15 and the dog-legged par 4 hole 17.

He scratched two holes (2 and 4) with 9 pars (5, 6, 8, 9, 10,11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 18.

On the other hand, Kamulinda also had 5 birdies on holes 5, 11, 13,15 and 18 with bogies on 1 and 3.

Kamulindwa’s par scores were holes 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 17.

On 1-under are two golfers Abraham Ainamani and Davis Kato who completed the top ten.

Former national amateur champion Ronald Otile was course level (71).

Six professionals Philip Kasozi, Grace Kasango, Bulhan Matovu , Canary Kabise, Silver Opio and Adolf Muhumuza all played 1-over-72.

The second round of action is on Thursday, 3^rd April 2025, upon which the cut will be determined.

The professionals are playing for a total kitty of Ug.Shs 20,000,000.

Meanwhile, three amateurs Elton Thembo, Samuel Bazaale and Gadre Shashank shared the joint lead on 1-under-70 in the gross amateur cluster.

Morris Ashaba, Joseph Kasozi and Michael Tumusiime followed suit with level par (71).

The prize fund for the gross amateurs is Ug.Shs 5,000,000.

A number of partners are proudly associated with the pearl of Africa golf series as Vivo Energy, MTN Uganda, Aquafina, Home Bliss, Nbs sport, Mighty Rides, Uganda Golf Union, Entebbe Club and Uganda Golf Club.

The third and final leg of the series shall be hosted in Lugazi come June.
