Meera Investment partners with I&M Bank to Occupy Former Crane Bank Premises Across Strategic Hubs
KAMPALA, UGANDA — I&M Bank Uganda has officially announced a major expansion of its retail network, taking over prime properties previously occupied by the defunct Crane Bank. This move returns these landmark commercial spaces back to active banking infrastructure following years of high-profile property and ownership disputes.
Network Growth and New Locations
The expansion kicks off with the official opening of the new I&M Bank Ntinda Branch. Located in one of Kampala's busiest suburban commercial nodes, this branch will bolster the lender's existing footprint in the area, complementing its service center at Capital Shoppers Mall.
Following the rollout in Ntinda, I&M Bank is concurrently preparing to launch additional branches in other former Crane Bank properties, including:
• Kireka
• Seeta
• Entebbe
Background of the Premises:
The premises being taken over were previously part of leasehold titles tied to Crane Bank before its 2016 receivership by the Bank of Uganda. Following legal battles and court rulings that returned vacant possession of the properties to the landlord, Meera Investments Limited (associated with businessman Sudhir Ruparelia), I&M Bank has stepped in as the new anchor tenant.
