Lost Roots: Daughter of Late Ugandan Engineer Ephraim Ssebunya in Kenya Seeks Paternal Relatives
A touching story has emerged of a young lady in Kenya searching for her paternal relatives in Uganda, tracing back to her late father, Ephraim Ssebunya Nambaga, an engineer originally from Luweero District.
According to family accounts, Ssebunya migrated to Kenya in the 1990s after marrying a Kenyan woman. To fit in at a time when Kenya was hostile towards foreigners, he allegedly acquired a Kenyan identity card at the Busia border under the guise of being a Samia from Busia County.
Ssebunya lived and worked in Kenya until his untimely death in 1995, where he was buried by his wife and local family members, without the knowledge or presence of any of his Ugandan relatives.
He left behind two children — a son and a daughter. The daughter, now orphaned, is desperately searching for her father’s kin in Uganda. Her brother, who remained in Kenya, has since passed on as well, leaving behind two young girls.
The lady now seeks closure and reconnection with her father’s family in Luweero, Uganda, after decades of estrangement
