Lancashire Breeder Douglas Hall Kennels Sets Out What Every Puppy Goes Home With

The family-run kennels near Burnley details the checks and care each puppy receives before collection.

Douglas Hall Kennels, a family-run puppy breeder in Newchurch-in-Pendle, has set out the steps every puppy goes through before it leaves for its new home. The kennels says giving families clear information before collection day helps them feel prepared and helps puppies settle.

Puppies at Douglas Hall Kennels are seen during weekly visits from the kennels’ vet. At 9 weeks old, each puppy is health checked and receives its first vaccine, worming, flea treatment and a microchip.

After handover, the team registers the new owner’s details against the puppy’s microchip with PETtrac (Avid Plc) within 7 to 14 days. Every puppy also goes home with an 800g starter bag of the Royal Canin puppy food it has been eating at the kennels, so its diet does not change suddenly. Puppies are not released while they are undergoing treatment or showing visible signs of injury or stress.

A spokesperson for Douglas Hall Kennels said: “Collection day should be exciting, not stressful. We want every family to know exactly what has been done for their puppy and what comes home with them, so they can focus on helping their new companion settle in.”

Families from across Lancashire, Manchester and Liverpool visit the kennels to meet its puppies.
