Kikuube RDC Tumusime meets Minister over land issues. Gov’t earmarks UGX 2 Billion to ease tension in the district.
Amlan Tumusiime the Kikuube Resident District Commissioner last Friday afternoon met Hon. Milly Babalanda the Minister for Presidency in her office.
According to Tumusiime, the matters discussed included the Bukinda land issues in his district. ”We discussed a lot of issues including the Bukinda land issues,” he asserted.
The resident district commissioner also disclosed that Minister Babalanda appreciated the efforts he is injecting in the Bukinda land issues. ”The minister also assured me that she is going to write to the president and seek guidance,” Tumusiime said.
Tumusiime refuted the allegations that he citing the evictees noting that he has no intentions of contesting in Kikuube district.
”My home district is Hoima, i have no intentions of contesting in Kikuube or Hoima. I’m here to serve the people of Kikuube,” he asserted.
He also noted that no one will evict the Bukinda people unless he is transferred.
Tumusiime has asked the people of Bukinda to be disciplined, and keep calm assuring the issue to be sorted out noting its already in the hands of the President Museveni.

Meanwhile government has earmarked UGX 2 Billion activities to reduce tension in Kikuube district
Government is finally moving in to construct a school, Health center, provision of clean water and set up of a market area in Bukinda A and B,a contested area being claimed by business men in Kikube district.
The project's will kick off as government investigates how the business men under Kyeya valley farm enterprises limited acquired land titles chopped off government land in Kyeeya.
The disputed land at Bukinda and Cheeya is part of the 8 square miles allocated to close to two thousand locals who were transferred from kyangwali to pave way for refugee settlement with each receiving 2.5 acres.
The land was donated by Bunyoro kingdom for refugee settlement at kyangwali in 1960s,out of which government chopped 8 square miles to settle locals who were landless.
The locals claim government just dumped them there with no basic services and proof of ownership that has resulted into endless protests and demands, reason they camped at the office of the Resident District commissioner Amlan Tumusiime asking to meet President Museveni .

Following a site visit by the minister of state for Bunyoro affairs Jennifer Namuyangu together with Easter Anyakun the state minister for relief and disaster preparedness and refugees , the two Ministers acting on the directives of the prime minister Robina Nabbanja have committed to fast track the outlined concerns so as to resolve the stand off.
Following a cabinet decision over two years ago, government had earmarked 6.2 billion shillings to be used in setting various activities in the area but the programme was interrupted due to the outbreak of Covid 19.
The minister of state for Bunyoro affairs Jennifer Namuyangu is urging the locals to concentrate on cultivating the land and also take advantage of government development programmes like parish model and others.
