JKL Lady Dolphins secured a hard-fought 83-81 victory over KCCA Leopards in a close National Basketball League encounter at Lugogo Arena on Friday.

The defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins maintained their unbeaten run extending the perfect run to now seven games.

Amidst the huge test tabled by the Leopards, the Dolphins (7-0) kept their heads intact and held on to come out of the kiln victorious.

The Lady Dolphins opened a nine-point lead (26-17) at the end of the first period as they made their intentions clear in the game.

KCCA Leopards responded emphatically in the second period as they limited the Lady Dolphins to only 16 baskets. That placed them in the driving seat with a one-point advantage.

Perus Nyamwenge’s three-point jump shot sealed the thrilling third quarter as the Leopards extended their lead to seven points (62-55).

The Lady Dolphins pulled off a stunning heist verifying why they are the defending champions.

They staged a 10-0 run into the final period taking 69-67 with six minutes left on the clock before they held on to seal the narrow victory.

Nyamwenge led the KCCA Leopards’ scoring chart with 27 points while Sylvester Kazibwe and Margaret Bagaala contributed 13 and 12 points respectively.

On the other side, Brenda Ekone topped the scoring chart with 22 points while Hope Akello and Flavia Oketcho added 20 and 15 points.
