The pathway to the 50-over Cricket World Cup in 2027 for the Uganda Cricket Cranes has been revealed.
Uganda is in Group B of the Challenge League alongside Hong Kong China, Bahrain, Italy, Singapore, and neighbours Tanzania. The first round of matches will be played this year.
During the previous Challenge League, Uganda finished second behind Jersey, missing their shot at the 2023 Cricket World Cup in India and on a chance to play ODI Cricket.
Italy and Hong Kong China were in the same group as Uganda in that tournament. Tanzania and Bahrain gained promotion into the Challenge League while Singapore was in Group A for the last edition.
The Challenge League is a pathway for teams to qualify for the Cricket World Cup. The winners and runners-up from each group in the Challenge League will progress to the next round of qualifiers. Kenya is the other East African team in the Challenge League this year. They are in Group A with Denmark, Jersey, Kuwait, PNG, and Qatar.
South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia will host the 2027 edition of the Cricket World Cup.
