“From Sleeping on the Streets to Owning a Benz and Mansion” – Patrick Shares His Journey

My name is Patrick, and I come from Mbale, a bustling town in Eastern Uganda. For much of my childhood, life was extremely difficult. I grew up on the streets after losing both of my parents at a young age. I had nowhere to call home, surviving by begging for food and sleeping on shop verandas. Many nights I went hungry, and countless days I wished my life would change. Watching other children go to school or families share meals together left me feeling broken inside. I believed poverty was my fate and thought I would die on the streets.
Even as a young man, life didn’t get easier. I tried doing small jobs like carrying luggage in markets and cleaning shops, but the money was never enough. Sometimes I would work the entire day and still go to bed hungry. People insulted me, and many laughed at my situation.
