BREAKING: EC ANNOUNCES DATES FOR REPEAT LC1 ELECTIONS IN 54 VILLAGES

KAMPALA –The Electoral Commission has set *Thursday 15th October 2026 and Monday 19th October 2026* as dates for repeat LC1 Chairperson elections in 54 villages/cells where results from the *28th July 2026 polls* could not be ascertained.

According to the Press Release Ref: ADM/72/01 dated 6th October 2026 and signed by Chairperson Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, the repeat elections follow several complaints challenging results declared in some villages across the country.

> “In accordance with Article 61(1)(d) of the Constitution, the Commission has been exercising its mandate to ascertain the results... The first batch of repeat elections will take place on Thursday, 15th October and Monday, 19th October, as per the list attached. Subsequent batches will be communicated in due course,” the statement reads.

The Commission added that for villages where results have been ascertained and upheld, decisions have been communicated to relevant parties and Returning Officers. Ascertainment of remaining complaints continues.

THE 54 VILLAGES:

The EC attached a list showing 36 villages to vote on *15th October* and 18 villages on *19th October*.

Kagadi – Kanyamunyu; Kayunga – Kirindi; Lwengo – Kinvunikidde, Kitabaaazi A, Lubaale A, Katovu Central, Katooke; Kampala – Kiyindi, Nkrumah, Kasaato, Mugalu, Lugoba, Nalwewuba, Soweto, Mugalu, Kakungulu, Sempa, Diplomat, Katabira, Lusaaze, Mbaawo; Mukono – Katega, Makenke; Wakiso – Bulaga, Lugeye, Abaita Ababiri, Kitende A, Bulamu Deputy, Luteete A, Buwambo, Kabuuma, Kibiri A, Kasokoso; Iganga – Buvule, Buseyi B; Lira City – Ogengo.

*19th October (18 villages):*

Mukono – Magonga-Ziranso; Wakiso – Nakitokolo, Wanjeyo, Lubatu, Nangabo, Kitungwa, Nakyesanja, Masajja-Kibira B, Ndikuttamadda, Bongole, Kireka D, Nakuwadde; Buikwe – Bukabala; Iganga – Nampirika A, Kiloowa; Mayuge – Wankonge; Jinja City – Kaitabawala; Isingiro – KakyeKa.

The Commission called upon all candidates, voters and stakeholders to comply with electoral laws and guidelines.
