9th Minister -level AU Committee of Heads of State & Gov’t meeting kicks off at Speke Resort Munyonyo

Speke Resort Munyonyo & Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort are from 19th -21st January 2022 hosting the Ministerial meeting of the African Union Committee on the reform of the UN Security Council.

The African Union Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government (C-10) is a Committee setup by the African Union (AU) with mandate to advocate and canvass the African Common Position on United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reform.

While opening the meeting Hon. Okello Oryem, Uganda’s Minister of State for Ministry of Foreign Affairs in his remarks noted that there is need to discuss a comprehensive reform of the United nations Security Council to avoid Africa’s continued undermining of the council.

“Africa has reiterated that the relevance, legitimacy & moral authority of the United Nations will ever remain undermined without a comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council” he said

H said that this has remained true for the last 4 decades since the security council reforms were broought on the UN General Assembly agenda. 

The President of the republic of Uganda H.E Yoweri T. Kaguta Museveni is expected to be the chief Guest

The African Union Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government (C-10) is a Committee setup by the African Union (AU) with mandate to advocate and canvass the African Common Position on United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reform.

Members of the C-10 who are set to attend the prestigious event include the Heads of State and Government of Senegal, Uganda, Algeria, Kenya, Zambia, Sierra Leone, the Republic of Congo, Libya, Namibia, and Equatorial Guinea.

The meeting will be coordinated by the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.
