In boxing, Ugandan professional boxer Shafic Kiwanuka knocked out Argentina’s Nesta Fabian in one minute, in a scheduled ten-round heavyweight bout of the Universal Boxing Council. Te fight was hosted by International University Of East Africa at the Auditorium.
This was the major bout of the day in the 14-bouts boxing competition held at the International University of East Africa auditorium.
At the same event, light welterweight fighter Latin Muwonge defeated Emmanuel Chivoli from Kenya to claim the African light-welterweight belt. Another continental fight between Uganda’s Aldine Muzeeyi and Tanzania’s Albert Kimario in the featherweight ended in a draw.

While travelling to Entebbe Airport on July 6, Argentine Fabian Nestor Insaurralde had endured 10,622 kilometres in the air for his much-anticipated heavyweight showdown with Uganda’s budding boxer Shafic Kiwanuka ‘Killing Machine’only to have a fight that lasted one minute and 15 seconds in the ring to leave fans in a partially filled International University of East Africa main auditorium in dismay.
Kiwanuka, a former national team boxer dominated this fight from the first whistle landing multiple punches before his left hook sent Nestor to the canvas only for his trainer to throw in a towel and concede defeat.
Nestor’s defeat sent Kiwanuka into a wild celebration for clinching the Universal Boxing Council (UBC) Inter-Continental heavyweight title.
This is Kiwanuka’s second belt in the division following the World Boxing Federation (WBF) Africa heavyweight title he won back in 2019 after his Unanimous points decision win over Zimbabwe’s
“First and foremost, I thank Allah who has made it easy for me to win this fight moreover on such an important day, while we are celebrating Eid Aduhah, I am also humbled to win this belt, my target is to win as many as I can,” Kiwanuka said.
“Today’s knockout has also happened in a short time because I don’t give chances and whenever I get one, I use it.”
