URA, Vipers seek redemption under Lugogo flood lights

Saturday March 30, 2024

  • SC Villa vs Mbarara City – Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku 4pm
  • URA vs Vipers – MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo 7pm

URA host champions Vipers under the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo floodlights with either side seeking a return to winning ways.

The tax collectors are winless in their last two games following a draw and defeat against BUL (1-1) and (0-3) versus Kitara respectively.

For the Venoms, their last league match was a painful defeat to KCCA late in the game at Kitende when Mustafa Kizza converted a penalty with the last kick of the game.

In what was one of David Obua’s first games in charge, they lost 2-0 to Vipers at Kitende but a lot has changed since then with the four-time champions looking a little more settled now.

Paul Mbowa, Siraje Sentamu and Ashraf Mandela face their former pay masters in the Red and Black of Vipers while in the Yellow and Blue of URA will be James Alitho and Joseph Ssemujju.

Vipers understand they must win to keep chances of defending the title alive as three points will take them within six of table leaders Kitara who will have played two more games.

Eighth placed URA will displace 6th placed Maroons if they avenge that first round defeat.

Hot Stat: Vipers are unbeaten in the last four league matches against URA [W3, D1]
