It is exactly one month before the 2024 World Rugby HSBC 7s Challenger finale kicks off in Krakow, Poland.
Uganda’s Lady Rugby Cranes 7s are undergoing intense training for the tournament at Kyadondo Rugby Club and in the Cross Fit Gym in the Kampala Industrial Area.
The team had taken a well-deserved Easter holiday break after twenty days away from home during which they travelled over 40,000 kilometres to Montevideo, Uruguay for the 7s Challenger and Accra, Ghana for the African Games.
Head Coach Charles Onen revealed to Kawowo Sports after the Wednesday morning session at Kyadondo that the team intends to go for a high-altitude camp to boost their preparations.
”We intend to go for a camp, for a higher altitude so that we see how the girls work under the same weather conditions where we are going to play,” Onen said.
Krakow is located in the low altitude Southern part of Poland whose weather conditions in May average 15°C with a balance of rainy and sunny days. For Uganda, such conditions are found to be generally cold and occur mainly in high altitude areas.
The tournament will be played from May 18-19 at the Henryk Reyman’s Memorial Stadium. Uganda is in Pool B with Argentina, Paraguay, and Papua New Guinea.
