Tourism champion Sudhir recognized  at the celebration to mark World Tourism Day 2025 in Arua.

During the World Tourism Day event, outstanding contributors to the tourism sector including Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia were recognised through the Tourism Recognition of Excellence Awards.

These awards celebrated both national champions and regional innovators across cultural tourism, agro-tourism, wildlife conservation, and investment.

The Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja  who was the chief guest  underscored the importance of inclusion, urging stakeholders to ensure tourism benefits women, youth, and local communities while also addressing challenges such as climate change, deforestation, and pollution.

A delegation comprising tourism champions joined the world in celebrating World Tourism Day held on Arua last week to discuss and reflect on how to shape the future of Uganda tourism sector. 

Uganda’s Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, Ministers Tom Butime and Huda Oleru, Tourism champion and Businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, and boxer Golola were among the notable participants at Golf Ground in Arua for the National Tourism Day celebrations.

Officials of Eagle air were very proud to have transported the team with Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia from Entebbe to Arua.

In a statement they said “We at Eagle Air proudly joined the celebrations of World Tourism Day in Arua City. We are equally proud to have transported Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, his wife and team from Entebbe to Arua for this special occasion, connecting leaders to Uganda’s tourism future”

 The Celebration was held under the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,”

Recently businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, whose sponsorshed and named a rhino Kabira, one of the returnee rhinos, gave Uganda its first concrete step towards bringing back a species once declared extinct within its borders.

Kabira, a female Rhino, was named after Sudhir’s flagship establishment, Kabira Country Club.

Their relocation from Kenya was spearheaded by Rhino Fund Uganda, which sought to rebuild public awareness and lay the foundation for reintroducing rhinos into Uganda’s protected areas.

World Tourism Day is commemorated every 27 September to create awareness in the importance of promoting it in all areas such as hospitality, wild life, travel among others.
