Tech & Innovation Triumph: IUEA Scoops Double Platinum at 6th East Africa Brand Quality Awards

LKAMPALA, UGANDA – The International University of East Africa (IUEA) has firmly cemented its status as a regional leader in higher education by sweeping two Platinum Quality Excellence Awards at the 6th Edition of the East Africa Brand Quality Awards (EABQA).

The prestigious gala ceremony took place on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Hotel Africana and Convention Center in Kampala, bringing together top-tier organizations and visionary corporate leaders from across nine African nations.

During the high-profile regional event, IUEA was honored with two distinct platinum accolades:

• Best Private Technology University in East Africa

• Best Private Innovative Chartered University in East Africa

These accolades recognize IUEA's relentless commitment to institutional quality, cutting-edge infrastructure, and its focus on bridging the gap between classroom education and shifting industry demands. The event was held under the timely theme: “Global Visionaries of Quality: Pioneering Sustainable Innovations, Advancing Technology and Value Addition.”

Speaking proudly after accepting the awards, IUEA Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emeka Akaezuwa, emphasized the institution's forward-looking mission.

The East Africa Brand Quality Awards are organized annually in partnership with premier regional and international bodies, including ALCONEXT and the UK-based Chartered Quality Institute. This year's edition saw intense competition, with over 370 nominated brands from countries including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, DR Congo, Somalia, and Ethiopia. The final winners were chosen via strict public nominations, online and USSD voting systems, and an evaluation by an independent expert panel of judges.

This double-platinum victory adds to IUEA’s rich history of academic excellence at the EABQA platform, where it was previously crowned the Best Private University in East Africa in 2021 and the Most Innovative University in East Africa in 2024.
