Serve the Community with Diligence Sr,Dr.Mary Grace Akiror implores the leadership of Kamwenge District
Sr.Dr. Mary Grace Akiror the Deputy Head of the RDC secretariat has held an engagement
meeting with the district leadership of Kamwenge District. Speaking at the service delivery
engagement held at the District Council hall, Sr. Akiror implored the entire district to now shift
efforts to economic mobilization so that the vast communities can get out of poverty. The
engagement was graced by the Technical, Political, Security and Special Interest Groups in the
District. Sr. Akiror told the participants to realistic and exercise highest degree of patriotism on
the manifesto implantation.
The Senior Presidential Advisor on Research Dr. Sekibobo and the Resident District
Commissioner Kamwenge engaged participants through an interactive session stimulating
challenges and also strategies to address them. Dr. Dan Sekibobo encouraged the participants to
pay attention to full detail while mobilizing and implementing various government services to
the community. He told the participants that working under minimum supervision is key
fulfilment as per each person’s placement or designation. The Participants pledged to implement
the manifesto for the betterment of the grass root communities.
The RDC Kamwenge Mr. Aharikundira Africano welcomed the team from the Office of the
President and thanked the technical, Security, Political and the Special Interest Groups for
gracing the engagement, the Commissioner noted that security in the district was calm, he noted
that in the recently concluded elections the National Resistance Movement performed very well.
He told the engagement that Kamwenge District scores high on the team work and coordination
something which has helped the district in successful service delivery to the citizenry in the
District.
The Chief Administrative Officer Katusiime Harriet graciously welcomed the team in the
District and noted that service delivery continues smoothly more especially in the livelihood
programs pointing out Emyooga, PDM, UWEP etc, she thanked President Yoweri Kaguta
Museveni and the NRM government for the huge funding throughout the district. She noted that
Kamwenge District Local Government has offered land to the Office of the President to have the
Office of the RDC and DISO constructed
Kamwenge District a refugee host district with a total land area of 1,695km, total population is
336,738 and the total number of the households stands at 75,629. The District is divided into 2
constituencies, 8 Town Councils, 8 Sub counties and 62 Parishes. A total of 22,226,844,938 ugx
was received in the F/Y 2021-2022 to 2025-2026 and was disbursed to 21,526 households where
each Parish received 358,497499 ugx.
