Gaddafi Football Club will play the 2024-2025 season in the FUFA Big League under a new management, Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC).
Relegated from the top tier division at the apex of last season, Gaddafi Fc will now play in Entebbe Municipality with their home as Entebbe Works playground.
UPPC took over the club from the former administration that was based in Jinja city.
Under head coach Allan Kabonge Kivewala, the new rebranded Gaddafi has assembled several young and experienced players.
For the past month or so, the team has been training at the lake-side Katabi Gombolola and Works playgrounds as they engaged in different test matches to try out the players vis-à-vis their combination link-up.
The latest friendly match was played on Tuesday, 1st October 2024 at the Buwanga playground in Kasenyi, Katabi Town Council.
Gaddafi FC beat Kasenyi Select 2-1 with veteran forward Frank Kalanda and Ronald Bithum on target for the visitors.
Kasenyi Select’s goal was a well struck second half penalty by captain Godfrey Wasswa.
Gaddafi fielded two different teams to accord all the players the playing time with senior players as Savio Kabugo, Frank Kalanda, Yassir Mugume, Ahmed Amayo, Simon Namwanja, Duncan Sseninde, Godfrey Ssekyeewa, goalkeeper Muhammed Ssekebba, Rashid Kawawa, Tom Kakaire and others all displaying a great show.
Kabonge is optimistic that the team assembled will deliver to the best of their expectations coming to the new season.
“We have put in our best effort and all is set as the season comes by. The management is supportive and the players ready to die a little for the team” Kabonge remarked.
Gaddafi embarks on the new season with an away fixture against Kaaro Karungi on Sunday, 6th October 2024 at the Kyamate playground in Ntungamo district.
On the following Sunday, 13th October 2024, Gaddafi will be home to Kigezi Home Boyz at the Entebbe Works playground.
Kabonge and the rest of the backroom staff embark on a new journey as they seek qualification to the Uganda Premier League for the 2025-2026 season.
