Presidency Minister Babalanda announces 40th NRM/A Liberation Day's activities as 33 Ugandan set to receive medal.

The Minister for Presidency and the newly elected Member of Parliament for Budiope west Hon Milly Babalanda has announced the program for the day to celebrated the National Resistance Movement will celebrate the 40th NRM/A Victory Day Anniversary celebrations on Monday 26th January 2026. 

The Minister while addressing the media at the media center in Kampala said that The celebrations will take place at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds with His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, as the Chief guest flanked by many distinguished guests from both within the country and the rest of the world.  

The theme for this year’s celebrations is: “Tribute to the Patriots who ushered in a fundamental change”

“This year’s celebrations will be unique because they are happening at the time when Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has just been voted into Office of the President for his fifth term with a resounding win of 71%. This is a real vote of confidence to the great works he has offered to his motherland Uganda” she said.

She congratulated the newly elected candidates into office.

“I therefore take the opportunity to heartily congratulate the President, the Members of Parliament and all the local leaders that have been elected into office for the 2026-3031 term. Congratulations!” she said

This year’s celebrations will be marked with a special military parade by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, (UPDF), the Uganda Police Force, the Uganda Prisons and the Uganda Wildlife Force. There will be other forms of entertainment befitting this momentous day.

She added that “President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will on this occasion confer different categories of medals to 33 Ugandans. These are distinguished Ugandans who have sacrificed for their motherland in different ways for it to reach where it is today.” She said.

The 26th of January, is the day the gallant NRA fighters captured Kampala ending the rule of the UNLA junta which was led by the late Gen. Tito Okello Lutwa. The leader of the NRA fighters Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was subsequently sworn in as Uganda’s 9th President.
