Pomp and glamour as Prime Minister launches Chint Uganda’s flagship center.

On Saturday, 16th August 2025, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja officially commissioned the new Chint Showroom and business center, a modern facility that integrates lighting, furniture, and both AC and DC power products, serving walk-in and project customers.

The state-of-the-art facility is located along First Street, plot 73, Jinja Road in Kampala, solidifying CHINT’s commitment to the Ugandan market.

Rt. Hon. Nabbanja, who represented President Yoweri Museveni, delivered a speech celebrating the establishment as a milestone for private sector investment in Uganda. Mr. Balaam Barugahare, the State Minister of Youth Affairs in the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, flanked her, 

“I applaud all the people who have laid the foundation for this establishment and commend all stakeholders for raising the banner of development,” she said. 

She commended CHINT for its huge investment in the country.

“The government of Uganda greatly appreciates investors like CHINT, who not only bring capital and technology but also create jobs and contribute to our national development goals. This CHINT Centre will be vital in supporting our agenda of driving economic transformation,” she stated.

During the grand opening, various dignitaries attended from the public and private sectors, including Kampala Lord Mayor His Worship Ssalongo Erias Lukwago, the Deputy Executive Director for KCCA, Benon Moses Kigenyi, representing the Executive Director, and other dignitaries.

KCCA FC was represented by the Club Chairman, Eng. Sserunjogi Andrew Mukiibi and CEO, Anisha Shahir Muhoozi.

The Lord Mayor, His Worship Ssalongo Erias Lukwago, addressed the dignitaries in attendance and emphasized the importance of such investments for the city’s development.

“CHINT’s presence not only represents a commercial venture but also demonstrates its confidence in our city. Their investment in this new CHINT Center and their partnership with KCCA FC show a shared vision for a vibrant and prosperous Kampala” he said

KCCA FC’s partnership with CHINT began in 2022 and has been key in the club’s growth, particularly as the official lighting partner. The floodlights provided by CHINT at the MTN Omondi Stadium have made night football a reality, enhancing the fan experience and creating new opportunities for the club. CHINT is the principal shirt sponsor and official lighting partner for KCCA FC.

Mr. Sherry Shi, the Managing Director of CHINT Uganda, expressed her excitement about the new facility and shared CHINT’s 20-year journey in Uganda.

The CHINT Centre and showroom is arguably the largest and most spectacular showroom in East Africa, offering a wide range of smart electrical products, and is also the leading provider of clean energy solutions in Uganda.
