Police fire Simon Peter Mugerwa

Uganda Premier League side Police FC has parted ways with head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa.

The shocking decision comes just hours after the team suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreational Grounds.

It was a dismal performance for the Cops, who conceded three goals in under 30 minutes. This marked their second consecutive loss at the same venue.

“Yes, it is true that the club has parted ways with coach Simon Peter Mugerwa. However, he has not yet received his official termination letter. I understand he will receive it after the technical meeting scheduled for today after lunch,” a close source at the club told Kawowo Sports.

According to Swift Sports, Police FC has already identified Matia Lule as a potential replacement for Mugerwa.

In 22 league matches this season, Police has managed just four wins, recorded 11 draws, and suffered seven defeats.

The club currently sits 12th on the table with 23 points.

Police FC will return to action on Thursday, April 10, when they face Mbarara City at Kavumba Recreational Centre.
