October CPI: Uganda’s inflation slows to 3.4%.

Uganda’s annual inflation eased to 3.4% in October, slowing from 4.0% in September, according to the the Octiber2025 Consumer Price Index data from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS). 

During he dissemination of the report on 31st October 2025, The Principal Statistii s Officer Juliet Nakayenga said that the inflation rate was driven by the prices changes of Sugar, meat and services.

 “This is attributed to Sugar whose rate of price change was 8.9 percent compared to 15.0 percent recorded in the year ended September 2025 and Meat-Beef whose rate of price change was 11.6 percent compared to 13.3 percent recorded in the year ended September 2025. In addition, Annual Services Inflation recorded 4.5 percent in October 2025 compared to 5.1 Percent registered in September 2025.” she said.

She reveled that the rate was mainly due to Annual Accommodation services Inflation recorded at 3.2 percent in the year ending October 2025 compared to 4.2 percent recorded in the year ended September 2025), Labour for motor vehicle servicing (recorded 0.4 percent compared to 33.3 percent registered in the year ended September 2025, Education services recorded 7.6 percent compared to 6.3 percent registered in the year ended September 2025) and Transport Inflation (recorded at 1,0 percent compared to 3.3 percent registered in the year ended September 2025

During the dissemination of the October CPI

The Monthly Headline Inflation for October 2025 according to the report recorded 0.0 percent from the 0.5 percent rise registered in September 2025, meaning that there was slightly no change in the prices of the two months driven by “monthly Core Inflation that recorded 0.0 percent in October 2025 from the 0.1 percent rise registered in September 2025. The main driver was the monthly Services Inflation that increased by 0.2 percent in October 2025 from the 0.1 percent rise recorded in September 2025” 

Meanwhile, UBOS and Danish Embassy have explored a partnership on Climate Smart Statistics.

The Executive Director of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), Dr. Chris N. Mukiza, hosted a delegation from the Danish Embassy in Uganda, led by Mr. Jacob Kahl Jepsen, Counsellor and Team Leader, Team Green Economy, Trade and Climate.
