NWSC Boss Mugisha donates UGX15 Million to boost community sanitation in Rwentuha Town Council

The donation is aimed at improving hygiene, waste management, and public health in the area as part of NWSC’s broader commitment to “Water and Sanitation for All.”

Speaking during the handover, Dr. Mugisha reaffirmed NWSC’s dedication to working with local governments to ensure clean and safe communities across Uganda.

“Sanitation is not a luxury, it is a necessity. As NWSC we are committed to partnering with local governments to ensure every Ugandan lives in a clean and healthy environment,”_ Dr. Mugisha said.

Local leaders in Rwentuha Town Council welcomed the donation and pledged to use the funds transparently.

Chairperson LCIII Rwentuha Town Council Grace Kyogabirwe said:

“We thank Dr. Mugisha and NWSC for remembering Rwentuha. This money will go directly into constructing public latrines and improving drainage in our markets. This support comes at the right time. We will work with the community to ensure proper use and maintenance of the facilities”

This contribution adds to NWSC’s ongoing investments in pro-poor and community sanitation. Under Dr. Mugisha’s leadership, NWSC has delivered:

- 64 sanitation facilities in schools, markets, and public spaces in Kampala

- 1,400 prepaid public standpipes and sanitation facilities in informal settlements, benefiting over 450,000 residents

- Ongoing expansion of water and sewerage services to *35 additional towns nationwide

Dr. Mugisha has led NWSC since August 2013 and is credited with transforming it into one of Africa’s most efficient water utilities.
