New sewage treatment plant transforms water supply to Kiruddu hospital
Kiruddu Hospital and the surrounding residents have expressed gratitude to the management of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) as beneficiaries of the Kiruddu Sewerage treatment plant.
While giving an overview of the corporation’s mandate, Eng. Silver Mugisha, the Managing Director of of NWSC highlighted the completion of Kiruddu treatment plant will solve challenges that been faced by the consumers there.
“We finished the Kiruddu sewage treatment plant. The water coming out of there is as good as drinking water and it’s solved a big problem for Kiruddu hospital” he said.

Eng. Mugisha, in am interview said that the completion of the Kiruddu Water Treatment Plant has improved water quality and resolved major challenges within the Kiruddu sewerage system.
Talking about the NWSC performance the Eng said that “So far, we have a lot of water with these new plants. We are going to reach about 800,000 cubic meters per day, which is a huge amount of water for the whole country”.
He noted that the NWSC’s nationwide coverage right currently stands at 84 percent, as calculated by the number of people served divided by the target population, which means we are looking at our area of jurisdiction.
He however pointed out that there is a challenge of price discrimination reported by customers where water sellers hike the price of a jerrican upto 500 Shs, yet bought at 25 Shs.
NWSC is regulated by the Ministry of Water and Environment under a performance contract that the ministry frequently monitors.
