Marriage can bring both joy and challenges. When couples start a family, expectations are high, and everyone hopes for the blessings of children. But when things don’t go as planned, those same blessings can become tests of love and unity. My name is Grace, and I live in Kampala, Uganda. For years, I endured one of the most painful experiences a woman can face—being blamed for not giving birth to a baby boy.
When I married my husband, Samuel, everything seemed perfect. We loved each other deeply and looked forward to building a family together. Shortly after our wedding, I gave birth to our first child, a beautiful baby girl. At first, my husband was happy, but soon he began expressing a desire for our next child to be a boy. In his family, baby boys were seen as the pride of the lineage, the ones to carry on the family name.
