Mukono Woman Claims She Discovered Husband’s Affair with Househelp

My name is Miriam, a mother of three from Mukono, Uganda. For many years, I believed I had built a stable and peaceful home with my husband. We were not rich, but we lived a comfortable life, and I tried my best to make our house a warm place for everyone.

Like most working mothers, I relied on a househelp to manage the home when I was away at work. I trusted her the same way I trusted my husband, never imagining that the two of them could betray me in the worst possible way.

The first signs came quietly. My husband’s behavior started changing. He began spending more time at home than usual, yet he avoided me. At night, he pretended to be tired, and during the day he would find excuses to return home early. My househelp also became unusually confident. Sometimes she answered my husband in a disrespectful tone, as if they were equals. I sensed something was wrong, but I had no proof. Every time I tried to question them, they acted surprised and made me feel like I was imagining things.
