Minister for Presidency Babalanda applauds Metro Cement for championing industrialization. 

Following the opening of the Metro Cement’s corporate sales offices at Acacia Place, in Kampala, the company has officially pre-launched in Uganda and  unveiled a series of their products including Cem II Farasi brand. 

The launch event was held on 18^th December 2025 at Serena Hotel attended by government officials, customers, partners among others. 

While officiating at the launch event, The Minister for President Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda commended Metro Cement’s investment and confidence they have placed in Uganda through indutralisation which she said is the philosophy of the government she serves. She thanked H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for creating an enabling environment for investors.

“I wish to sincerely thank the Metro Cement investors for heeding the call I made during the UAE–Uganda Business Forum in Abu Dhabi in 2022to come and invest in Uganda. You listened, you believed, and you acted. For that, Uganda is grateful. It speaks directly to the development philosophy I have learned and lived by; championed by my mentor and father in development, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. It’s the philosophy that sustainable growth must be anchored in industrialisation, value addition, and job creation” she said.

She said that the company has gone ahead to create jobs for the youth, and strnthening local value chains while transferring skill to Ugandans.

“The establishment of the Metro Cement factory in Kamonkoli, Eastern Uganda, is clear proof of this vision in action. It is creating jobs for Ugandans, especially our youth, transferring skills, strengthening local supply chains, and contributing to the transformation of our economy” she said.

Hon Babalanda pledged continued commitment to support them saying that “As government, we remain committed to working with serious investors who share our vision of a prosperous, industrialized Uganda”

During the launch 

The CEO, Mohamed Ameer,  expressed the company's commitment to participating significantly in Uganda's infrastructure development and ensuring customers have access to quality cement at the right price adding that for more information, they can be accessed through their corporate sales offices  located on the 3rd Floor, Acacia Place Building, Plot 6 Acacia Avenue, Kololo.

He said that Metro Cement has been producing cement for the Ugandan market based at their company's manufacturing plant located in Kamonkoli, Budaka District in Eastern Uganda.

The company is based in Dubai with over two decades of experience in operating cement factories in the UAE and other parts of Africa.
