Meritah Christian Junior School’s 100% First Grade PLE performance attributed to God’s faithfulness.
Meritah Christian Junior School in Kiwanga, Namanve, Kampala expressed their gratitude to the 2025 Primary Leaving Exam PLE outstanding performance where the school’s students performance to the score of 100% for all the students who sat for the PLE exams reinforcing the school’s commitment to nurturing disciplined, faith-filled, and holistic young leaders.
This was revealed during a thanksgiving service held at the school in celebration of the great milestone.
According to the school’s management, out of the 28 pupils who sat for the national exams, all achieved First Grade a historic milestone for the school.
During the event a series of activit were held including Bible readings, testimonies from pupils and parents, and words of encouragement from school leaders and guests, emphasizing faith, hard work, prayer, and community support.
In her speech, the Guest of Honor Edith Ntege, Head Teacher of Vision for Africa High School Nakifuma, delivered a powerful message.
She urged parents to facilitate their children as they return to school after the long holiday. Addressing those whose children may not have performed as expected elsewhere, she encouraged resilience.
“Don’t give up on them. Help them join vocational training or focus on their talents so they can thrive” she said.
She particularly advised P7 leavers joining secondary school to prepare for the transition “from 4 subjects to 13.”
While giving his remarks, the school Director Mr. Ezra Ssemwanga expressed profound happiness and humility.
"In Psalm 106:1, the Bible says, 'Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.' In my entire teaching career, this is the first time I have witnessed 100% First Grades. I thank the teachers and pupils for their discipline, and the parents for their unwavering support and hard work” he said.
A scripture from Philippians 4:6-7 was read to the children: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” The verse served as a reminder to present all concerns to God without worry.
Among the shining star perfomers is Wai Ateny who achieved an impressive aggregate of 9. He shared his aspirations and gratitude.
"I want to become a doctor," he said. "I thank my parents and teachers for their support and for enabling me to study” he said
Fellow candidate Acen Esther, who scored an outstanding aggregate of 5, attributed her success to divine intervention and perseverance.
"God is good," she testified. "When the mock results came, they were not so good, but through prayer, fasting, hard work, and the good learning environment provided by the school, we managed to excel in the final exams” she said
Teacher Deo, one of the P7 teachers, and Madam Grace Kyokushaba, Head of Nursery, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the staff. "We are so grateful to God because the performance was very good, even for pupils who joined us directly," they said, calling on other parents to enroll their children for holistic, Christ-centered education.
Parents and children were encouraged to always remember God’s faithfulness. Speakers urged reflection on past challenges and victories, meditating on what God has brought them through.
Parent Florence Oguti, who joined the school in 2018, appreciated the administration's compassion. "School fees had become a big problem for my son James, one of the 2025 candidates," she said. "I thank the school for the bursary and all the support that made this possible” she said
Another parent, Winnie Ssengendo, beamed with joy over her children's turnaround. "My son Marcus wasn't performing well before, but through God and prayers, he picked up and achieved aggregate 12. My daughter Sanyu Martha got aggregate 10. I want Marcus to become an IT expert and Martha a lawyer” she said
Parent Paul Mukasa emphasized teamwork: "Learners, always work together as a team because 'together we move, divided we fall.'"
