Kansai Plascon Uganda Limited has continued to support the development of Uganda’s sports sphere with the latest addition of badminton to the swelling list of sports dockets sponsored.

The global paints manufacturers announced a Ug. Shs 35,000,000 sponsorship package to Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) to help in the smooth organization of the 2024 Uganda Para-Badminton International tournament.

The announcement was done at the head offices of Kansai Plascon in Industrial Area, Kampala.

“We are excited to partner with Uganda Badminton Association. This is one organization we had not dealt with before but since our prime objective is to witness the development of sports in the country, we are honored to be part. We are starting with para badminton and shall spread wings to other properties after thorough discussions” Santosh Gumte, the general manager of Kansai Plascon revealed.

This sponsorship is both cash and in kind (T-Shirts, products as well as branding of the playing hall and media).

Uganda Badminton Association chief executive officer Simon Mugabi expressed delight by this partnership that he envisages as a blessing to the Badminton sport.

“We are more than honored by the decision from Kansai Plascon to be part of Badminton starting with sponsorship for the 2024 Para Badminton championship where we expect many countries from the different continents of the world to take part. This is a blessing to the badminton sport as we are sure the sport will grow” Mugabi stated.

Mugabi confirmed that countries from the different continents of Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania and America have started to arrive in Uganda for the championship.

Dr. Nvenkata Krishnan, the marketing director at Uganda Badminton Association appreciated the decision from Kansai Plascon to associate with this indoor sport and promised they will continue to engage them for the other properties of this sport as the national league and national teams.

“We are humbled for the gesture of Kansai Plascon to associate with Uganda Badminton Association, first for Para-Badminton. We have other properties that we shall continue to engage them for sponsorship” Krishnan remarked.

The Uganda Para Badminton international tournament will shuttle off on 1st July and complete by 7th July 2024 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala.

Badminton becomes yet another sport that Kansai Plascon has sponsored.

The other disciplines include football (Uganda Cup, Arua Hill Sports Club), cricket (national cricket), rugby (Entebbe Mongers), Netball (National team) and the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC).

Recently, Kansai Plascon facilitated Ug.Shs 125,000,000 (one hundred and twenty five millions) to the Uganda Olympic Committee to help in the preparations for the upcoming Olympics in Paris city, France.

Of this sponsorship, Ug.Shs 50,000,000 (fifty millions) is cash and the rest, Ug.Shs 75,000,000 (seventy five millions) is in kind (product).
