JUST IN!! Diana Ampaire Kampe Takes Lead in National Female Youth MP NRM Flagbearer Race

Diana Ampaire Kampe is currently leading the race for the National Female Youth MP NRM Flagbearer, according to provisional results released by The Pearl Times Decision Desk.
Thousands of National Resistance Movement (NRM) youths from across Uganda cast their votes on Thursday, September 18, 2025, to elect flagbearers for youth parliamentary positions. The election is seen as a major contest for the next generation of political leaders within the party.
Several candidates have contested the National Female Youth MP position, including Golda Ikyiriza, Mercy Kanyesigye, Suzan Katusiime, Olivia Kobusinge, and Sandra Sarah Chebet. Diana Ampaire Kampe, however, appears to have built a strong lead in multiple districts.
Observers have reported low voter turnout, with many delegates staying away from polling stations. Analysts suggest that logistical challenges, political fatigue, and delays caused by earlier disruptions may have contributed to the slow participation.
The elections were initially scheduled for the Kololo delegates conference in August 2025 but were postponed following chaotic scenes at the venue. NRM national chairman Yoweri Museveni called for a rescheduling to ensure a fair and orderly process.
Provisional district-level results show Diana Ampaire Kampe consistently in the lead. In Amolatar, she received 14 votes compared to Mercy Kanyesigye’s 8, while in Amudat she won 18 votes with Kanyesigye failing to secure any.
Kiruhura and Masindi districts reported 20 votes each for Kampe, with Mercy Kanyesigye receiving 0 and 5 votes respectively. In Mpigi and Nakaseke, Kampe maintained a significant advantage, widening her lead further.
Rubaga and Rukungiri also saw Kampe ahead, with Rukungiri recording 22 votes for her, 4 for Kanyesigye, and 1 for Susan Katusiime. Sironko gave Kampe 34 votes, leaving Kanyesigye with 14, consolidating Kampe’s commanding position.
Political analysts say Kampe’s early lead positions her as the clear frontrunner for the NRM Female Youth MP flagbearer slot. While some districts are still finalizing their results, the current trend indicates strong nationwide support.
As results continue to trickle in, the NRM youth wing is closely monitoring developments. Kampe’s performance could significantly influence youth representation in the party, shaping the political landscape ahead of Uganda’s parliamentary elections.
