ISBAT University unveils 2026 Inter-school Coding & Science Quiz Competition to boost advanced technology, innovations.

ISBAT University Kampala has launched a new chapter of the annual ISBAT Inter-school Coding science quiz competition (ISCC) where various schools will be participating to create solution using technology to climax with recognition of the top students and schools. 

The launch event was coupled with the Award Ceremony for of the 2025 ISCC competition to recognized the outstanding schools that exceled over the others tagged “celebrating excellence And achievement”, which Ms. Jovia, The Head of Schools and Operation last year explained as an experience to “celebrate effort, resilience for ISCC for different awards and appreciations for students and teachers”

The top schools, students and teachers of the 2025 competition where over 1000 school participated included categories of: Best Participating Girl, Students with the longest Steak, Best HOD, Top 10 students on the national leaders board, Most Active schools among others.

During a press conference at the sidelines of the launch, The Chief Guest and Head of Science and Technology Human Capital at UNC ST, Dr. Stephen Sebaale said that the ISBAT Coding program has exhibited that that exposing students to advanced technology, has made them capable of seeing problems in a curious way while critically thinking of the solutions to address them. 

“Linking what we learn with what we want to achieve sparks curiousity, and the ISBAT coding competition is giving students a sense of accountability and traction to conceptualize how to solve local problems” he said.

The Academic Registrar ISBAT Dr. Gijju Paul said that the coding competition has created collaboration where students collaboration with ISBAT University is utilizing a platform that is empowering students on advanced technology and innovation.

“We need science and technology to motivate and engage students while merging it with coding as a fundamental aspect of economic growth while empowering lives as a basis of STEM education, applicable in all fields” he said.

Mungumio Timothy Arthur S.6 students from Standard High School Zana pursuing PEM/ICT combination while talking to journalists highlighted that the coding completion has changed the perspective of how he see challenges which he said are changingly adapting to the solution created. 

He said that he was inspired to join the competition program by the to create solution to community problems using advanced technology.

“As engaged in the 2025 coding competition, the experience was life changing, we thought we were young before we realized we were the seed of tomorrow. The designs I did showed me the extend I could do. Let’s come and learn again in the 2026 competition” he said

A student from Kololo Secondary School, Sarah L. Angel described the ISCC competitions as an opportunity to be exposed to advanced technology while utilizing practical skill to create solution for community problems and joining AI technology networks.

Meanwhile a Teacher from Pine International School Mr Enock Mpanga said that they allowed their students to tap into the Coding program to advance their ICT skills to improve critical thinking while to prepare the to solve problems.

Standard High School Zana the Overall Win er for the 2025 Coding Competition reciveving a UGX 10 Million Cheque.

School that have participated includes: Emmah High School, Kololo Secondary School, Our Lady of Good Council SS Gayaza, Nabisunsa Girls School, Pine International School, Standard High School Zana, Kitante Hill School, Mengo SS, Air Force Arms SS, Kings College Buddo, Namirembe Hillside High School among others.

The ISCC program have partnered with NITA-U, Safe Boda, Maticent Company, Uganda Airlines, among others
